Facebook buying a cybersecurity company after recent breach?
Monday, October 22nd, 2018
After the announcement by Facebook of a recent breach exposing around 30 million user records from a security flaw, Facebook is looking at buying a cybersecurity company.
An acquisition of this type would go a long way toward providing Facebook users with some peace of mind with regards to their data security when using the social platform. However, this is probably a move that Zuckerberg should have taken years ago. Facebook has literally billions of users and is valued at billions of dollars…and Facebook has proclaimed in the past that the privacy of it’s users is of utmost importance to them. Hopefully this is a move in the right direction.
In the meantime, please remember: you, the user, are sometimes your own best protection because you’re often the weakest link in security. You can and should always practice safe surfing by doing things like making sure your anti-virus program and definitions are up to date (you DO have AV install, right??), using good passwords, and using different passwords for all of your accounts! If you need help thinking up a good password, give this site a shot.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any security concerns you may have regarding your company!
