Prison Inmates Hack Tablets to Steal Money
Over 300 prison inmates at the Idaho State Correctional Institution recently hacked the JPay tablets they have access to in jail to steal money. These tablets are normally used for things like accessing email and music by the prisoners. The inmates used these tablets to steal over 200K and place these funds into their accounts.
The prison says the inmates have been disciplined and some of the stolen funds have been recovered.
CenturyLink provides this access and refused to comment citing they use proprietary technology.
